1. Engagement Ceremony Engagement Ceremony is the first step of any Punjabi Matrimony. The bride and the groom exchange their rings in the presence of their relatives. Then, both the families exchange gifts with each other. 2. Chunni Chadhai Ceremony Chunni Chadhai is the next ceremony that is conducted after the ring ceremony, in the presence of parents and relatives. Generally, in this ceremony, family of groom visits the bride's house with some gifts. Then, mother of the groom covers the head of her daughter-in-law with chunni which represents that they have accepted that girl as their daughter-in-law. Then, the family of groom gives her gifts, jewellery, clothes, sweets, which is the part of this auspicious ritual. After this, mother of the groom applies some mehendi on the hands of would-be-bride. 3. Chuda Ceremony This is one of the best and favourite rituals of girls. In this ceremony, maternal uncle of the bride brings red and white bangles named as Chuda, on which golden colored Kalire are tied. It is considered as the most important ritual of Punjabi wedding. 4. Gana This is considered as the sacred ritual of Punjabi matrimony. A red thread is tied on the left hand of bride and right hand of groom. This ritual is performed a few days ago the marriage date. It is believed that this sacred thread protects the couple from all bad omen and spirits. 5. Mehendi Ceremony Mehendi function is considered as very famous tradition in Punjabi culture. Both families organize a get-together in which mehendi is applied on the hands of both the bride and the groom. Also the female members of both families apply mehendi on their hands as it is considered as fun-filled activity. Some families also performs dance to make this day more memorable. 6. Ghroli The females of both the families bring holy water from the Gurudwara and the bride and the groom have to bathe with this holy water. 7. Wedding Ceremony Wedding ceremony of punjabi weddings is mainly performed in Gurudwara. The granthi of the Gurudwara recites the ardaas for the new couple and then the couple takes four pheras.
